I saw this in a window, but I don’t know why. Jean Claude Van Damme is Belgian.

To mark the seventh Salzburg Art Project, the English sculptor Anthony Cragg has installed an approximately 5 metre-high sculpture made of patinated bronze on the Makartplatz. The title “Caldera” is a geological term denoting a volcanic crater, which in English also carries poetic connotations. Here the artist is exploring space and matter, suffused with the energy and emotion unleashed by dramatic processes. Koz Dos is a street artist from Venezuela. He likes to combine elements of humans and animals in his imagery. At the bottom of this mural is Stinkfish (from Colombia) and an artist I can’t place, but I love it.

St. Stephens Cathedral in all of its Gothic Glory

Wustenrot is an insurance company that happens to be housed in a gorgeous architectural wonder in the city center. The statue in front is of Johannes Gensberg, a.k.a. Gutenberg, the inventor of the modern printing press.

Mozarthaus, Mozart’s House 1784-1787

Josef is a political prisoner who was jailed in 2014. He was arrested in an anti-fascist demonstration against the right-wing group Akademikerball.

He lives!

It’s not just Vienna. It seems like just about every city throws up this slogan somewhere.

This piece is based on the scene that has Harold Lloyd (The Third Genius – never got the recognition of a Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton) hanging from a clock on a high-rise building in the 1923 comedy “Safety Last.”

You walk through this doorway to get to Mozart’s apartment (from 1784-1787) – where he composed ‘The Marriage of Figaro.”

The Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) -consecrated in 1147- has survived through many wars and has become a symbol of Vienna’s freedom.

Completely transparent office building next to the central train station.

Massive bike culture here. Very specific lanes set aside for cyclists. Stay out of them if you’re not on a bike!
