So many questions…
Liberty Statue or Freedom Statue. Reigns atop Gellert Hill and it commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom, and prosperity of Hungary.
Pretty ladies along the Danube.

Monument building complex hosting apartments, a pub, and a parking garage. Definition of character for a building.
The Polish/Hungarian Friendship Tree by Neopaint.
The inner sanctums/courtyards within the enormous commercial/residential complexes, are beyond intriguing. Another world within.

My favorite word/concept in the entire universe. You can have your love. You can have your money. I need my freedom. Feeling it more acutely now than ever before. With what is happening in my country now and  with what is happening all over the world in general, and with what has happened throughout history… The idea that human beings can be chained, controlled, devalued, abused … I am finally recognizing the cruel absurdity of it all. The deeper I go, the freer I become. The more objects/thoughts I release, the more of a minimalist I become. I own very few things and I hold on to very little of my past. Freedom. Everyone should be FREE.

My eyes see so much beauty in decay. This image has so much in it. Entrapment. A bit of an opening for a view. Tags from people who want to be seen by anyone and who want to live forever. Other tags/pieces worn away by Mother Nature and inevitable wear and tear of a building that once stood strong and had lots of life within it. Those were the days. And they aren’t coming back. So, let’s look at this as being new in its own way and see in it the beauty that it now possesses.

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY STREET ART: MAN OF THE YEAR

This mural was commissioned on the 60th anniversary of the 1957 TIME magazine cover depicting a Hungarian Freedom Fighter. In 1956, the magazine deemed the freedom fighters in the Hungarian Revolution as heroes, and dedicated the prestigious cover to all of the the brave souls that fought in the struggle. The original cover was drawn by legendary TIME cover artist Boris Chaliapin (he drew over 400 of them!) and at the bottom of this post, I’ve shared an image of it for you to compare…

The gorgeous Hungarian State Opera House (Magyar Állami Operaház). Neo-Renaissance style. Opened to the public in 1884. Interestingly enough, that’s the same year that the Budapest Keleti Train Station opened, so Budapest was HOT and modern that year!
