Walking down 5th Avenue, passing a lot of restaurants…this one finally caught my eye. La Vagabunda. 5a Av. Norte entre calles 24 y 26 Norte. http://www.lavagabunda.com. I ordered the burrito deluxe for brunch. Eggs, sour cream, and veggies.

Sushi Club: 6p Sake Nigiri, $135 pesos (about $10 usd)

Mint lemonade at Sushi Club. I didn’t order it. The bartender comped it to me. It is delicious!

If online information is any indication, there shouldn’t be any rooms available in any part of Mexico. I came to Playa Del Carmen from Cancun this morning (a modern, a/c, smooth colectivo -mini bus- for 34 pesos, 66 km) fully expecting to sleep on the beach for the unforeseen future. However, the first hotel I walked by, La Palma, was advertising a vacancy. I went in and it turns out a spacious single room is going for $35 a night! Five dollars less than the decrepit, yet charming, hosteI just left in Cancun. And the internet kept saying these dates around Christmas are nearly impossible. Yet here I am.
