Before Trayvon Martin, there was Oscar Grant. Oscar Grant, unarmed, was shot in the back by a white police office on the BART in San Francisco in 2009. A new movie about Oscar’s story called “Fruitvale Station” is coming out soon. New York artist LNY (Lunar New Year) was commissioned by the movie’s producer to create a mural to memorialize Oscar and to pique the public’s interest.
