KOBE, JAPAN: YAMAMURA HOUSE a.k.a. YODOKO GUEST HOUSE, PT. 2
Set into a hilltop in Ashiya looking over the port of Kobe. Of course in 1918, there weren’t so many houses between Yamamura and Osaka Bay. The house was constructed with Oya Stone, not concrete. Oya Stone is created from lava and ash and it is fireproof. Here are various exterior images as well as its current surroundings:

KOBE, JAPAN: THE YAMAMURA HOUSE a.k.a. YODOKO GUEST HOUSE, PT. 1
The only surviving Frank Lloyd Wright residence in Japan. Construction began in 1918. It was the summer villa of Tazaemon Yamamura, a wealthy sake brewer.
“As we live and as we are, Simplicity – with a capital “S” – is difficult to comprehend nowadays. We are no longer truly simple. We no longer live in simple terms or places. Life is a more complex struggle now. It is now valiant to be simple: a courageous thing to even want to be simple. It is a spiritual thing to comprehend what simplicity means.”
