“Aachen Cathedral (German: Aachener Dom), known in English as the Cathedral of Aix-la-Chapelle, is a Roman Catholic Church. It is the oldest cathedral in northern Europe and was constructed by order of the Emperor Charlemagne, who was buried there after his death in 814. Groundbreaking occurred in 796.” wiki

It is really a strange mixture of styles since parts have been added over the centuries.
I find the shape of the window in https://jacquelinemhadel.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/img_8602.jpg quite strange. It reminds me a little bit of art nouveau. I wonder if it is old or a later addition. One can see here that the development of styles could have moved into an entirely different direction than it actually did.
