QUEENS (LONG ISLAND CITY,) NEW YORK STREET ART: “BOY SENT TO HIS ROOM” by MERES ONE

Here is my last post from 5 Pointz this time around and possibly forever, as a developer is intending to demolish the warehouse and build luxury condominiums. I feel quite fortunate to have gotten there in time to document the current pieces.

I basically saved the best for last, in my opinion, as it is a unique 3-Dimensional piece by, I believe, New York graffiti legend Meres One. The boy in the mural is wearing a t-shirt donning Meres’ signature lightbulb logo, so I am assuming. Unless, it is an homage to Meres from another artist.

Regardless, I like this piece because it appears that the boy is in trouble and has been sent to his room early in the day, most likely by his mother (note the ironic poster of #1 Mom on his wall.) The room represented is very typical adolescent boy-esque, equipped with a fish tank, bookshelves, and other odds and ends. What stands out the most to me is his desk, which pours out of the wall onto a significant amount of ground space. You can see a steaming bowl of soup, a stapler, lamp, and pencil strewn atop it. I just love it. Enjoy the final 5 Pointz pictorial that I have to offer:
