I saw this for the first time today and fell in love with it. Such power. Delacroix witnessed scenes like this firsthand in the French Revolution and was inspired to create this.

  1. The painting. Yes, I would imagine people realize that we are speaking of the 1830 revolution, as he created this in 1831, directly following it. No one meant to imply anything else. Thank you.
