There is a german expression for stubbornnes. Somebody goes “mit dem Kope durch die Wand”. Literally that means “with the head through the wall”. The meaning is that somebody wants to have his way, no matter what.
The 1950s modernist building (the congress hall) in the middle is nick-named, “die schwangere Auster” (the pregnant oyster). The roof once collapsed but it was rebuilt.
