VANCOUVER IMAGES: OLD HOTELS

“I have had to experience so much stupidity, so many vices, so much error, so much nausea, disillusionment and sorrow, just in order to become a child again and begin anew. I had to experience despair, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths, to thoughts of suicide, in order to experience grace.”
Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

  1. Seems he also had to leave his wife and children to find grace. Good thing his daddy was rich or she, and the children would have been in big trouble. But he was seeking grace so it obviously didn’t matter.

    1. Fair enough, but for me, the quote relates more to the images of decaying hotels…ones that used to have vibrancy, but are now rundown, having hosted a variety of personalities all caught up in the vices that the quote suggests… 🙂
