MADISON, GEORGIA: JOSHUA HILL HOME

This house (circa 1835) was once home to Senator Joshua Hill. It is believed that he persuaded Sherman to spare Madison on his “March to the Sea.” Apparently, Hill went to West Point with Sherman’s brother, so due to that relationship, Sherman didn’t torch Madison.
