MATURIN: INSTAGRAMMED DRIVE-BY

Driving through downtown. You can see the main cathedral in the background.

The “dream catcher” that swings in the car of my driver.

Jonathan, my driver. We aren’t allowed to go anywhere by ourselves, really.

“Traky,” a huge store with everything you could possibly want.

Inefficient parking lot system. You get a ticket when you enter. You park. Go into the store you need to go into. Get back into your car. Drive to this small kiosk, where people have to get out of their cars and get into line just to pay the one person inside. Get back into your car, drive to the exit, and then hand the ticket to the attendant who will then press a button to raise the gate. Luckily, we were there on an afternoon that wasn’t busy. People were telling me that it’s insane on the weekends when the cinema or something lets out at like, midnight. It takes them about an hour or two to get out of the lot because of this ridiculous system.

Traffic jam, but at least we have Chavez to look at.

More traffic. “Jonathan, we have to get back by 3!” He says, “No problem, no problem…”
