San Gervasio Ruinas: The Mayan sanctuary of Ixchel, the goddess of the waters, the earth, and the moon. This site is considered sacred to Mayans and their pilgrimages here are equivalent to what we know of pilgrimages to Rome, Jerusalem, etc.
Riding a motorbike around the island, I stopped for a bite to eat at a cool little restaurant situated on ‘Naked Beach.’

Before the conquistadors tore it down, El Cedral was the largest Mayan site on Cozumel. Not much is left, just a remnant of a temple, which you can see below. It may no longer be the largest, but it is the oldest on Cozumel.

Wow! Thank you for such kind words! It was definitely a memorable trip for me and I do love revisiting these photos to conjure up the feelings I had there. 🙂
